Beautification

Beautification – Sunninghill Community Ratepayers Association

The funding received by the Ratepayers Association from our members has enabled the organization to perform functions such as remove illegal signage and employ staff on a continual basis to assist in maintaining and upgrading our verges, parks and pavements. In addition a street corner beautification project is in progress where businesses and Estate Agents are encouraged to install indigenous gardens to improve the aesthetics of our area.

Some of our most recent successes have been the planting of many trees down the K60 road and two Madiba Forests, one on the corner of the K60 and Nanyuki Road and the other on the corner of Nanyuki and Malindi Roads.

At present Sunninghill Community is working with the “Friends of the Sandspruit”, a joint initiative with Sunninghill and Paulshof to rid the Sandspruit River between our two suburbs of invasive vegetation and litter and to rehabilitate this river to its former glory. 150 indigenous trees are being planted here and our aim is to turn this area into a site were residents can enjoy the outdoors and beautiful plants and birdlife found here
