You will remember a week or so back, Sunninghill Community Security sent out an email to our residents and businesses about the danger of drawing large volumes of cash from banks. You will also remember that I informed all about one of our residents who was followed from Standard Bank at The Square Shopping centre and robbed of his cash at the entrance to his complex by a gang of armed criminals. Savika arrest criminals
Dear Community of Sunninghill,
Many of you would have heard several gun shots in the early hours of this morning, the 24th of August and must be concerned and wondering what happened.
At around 02h00 one of the Sunninghill Park Savika Armed Response vehicles was patrolling along Nanyuki Road when the Reaction Officer saw three suspects climbing over the wall of the complex on the corner of Nanyuki and Katumba Road. Read more ›
Cash Robberies
Dear Community,
Over the past month or so there has been a dramatic increase in the number of armed robberies where the victims are followed home from the bank after having drawn rather large volumes of cash. These amounts vary from R5000 to R30 000. Victims are followed to their destination where gangs of up to 6 armed individuals hold them up and rob them of their cash. These crimes are occurring all over Johannesburg and Sunninghill has had two residents, one in a vehicle and one on foot robbed and a building contractor followed to the site where he was performing renovations where he was robbed.
